The 'Implosion' Of Modern Medicine Into The Destruction Of Itself!

---This section contains an introduction to an article I published in my magazine, “The Medical Health Care Gazette” in 1985 at which time it was also copyrighted. The article, entitled "Is It A Complication...Or, Is It Malpractice?"was written and published by me eighteen years ago. You'll see from reading it that everything I forecasted would happen to 'your' health care system has indeed happened. I told you, society, how to correct it. You didn't. So in the interim I would estimate that hundreds of thousands if not millions of deleterious effects and even deaths have occurred which otherwise might have been prevented had these warnings been acted upon.
---I will present this original article and bring it up to date with a current running commentary I will be interspersing throughout the article, pointing out what happened, why, the thinking behind what I said at the time, how it relates to what is happening today, and so on, so perhaps then you'll better be able to understand your role in all this and the effects it is having on you and your family and what can be done to try to stop it.
---And I will make more predictions as to what will happen to you and your health care system and that of your relatives and friends if this warning is not understood and heeded.
---...I will tell you again, peoples' lives are at stake, all of ours.

---And I would add, it's fortunate we have this article to look back on and analyze since the reasoning behind my predictions are more likely now to be taken seriously. After all, what I predicted would happen turned out to be right on the button, and my predictions for the future would therefore be more likely to be taken seriously. In other words, in this instance, by looking back and correlating what I said then with what transpired since then and with what is happening now, 'hindsight' will tell us everything...well, at least it will tell us a great deal we can hang our hats on.
---...This particular hindsight should go a very long way toward our better understanding and our better being able to determine the answers as to what to do about the continuing destruction of the health system that is ravaging throughout society today with its commensurate loss of countless numbers of innocent lives...your lives, and those of your family members, your children, your mothers and fathers and brothers and sisters and friends, and fellow mankind.

---I don’t want this to sound like a doomseday prophecy, but we can still correct these currrent and seemingly hopeless problems which would not be so hopeless if we honestly, with open and unbiased minds, understood what is really going on. Only then can we correct them. And I will not takes sides. I will remain neutral in the sense of trying to present the information as honestly and truthfully as I can. No pointing of fingers.

---The fact is, society...through ignorance, and greed and misguided anger and whatever...has compromised to large degree the very nature of the kind of care available to all levels of people, from the poor to the moderately incomed to the rich and famous, because the very nature of medical thinking has begun to change and take a turn for the worse!

---I will show you how all this has happened. Then make up your own mind.

---If you think seeing patients for a few minutes at a time, not even properly examing them, and indiscriminately relying on the ordering of a profusion of sophisticated tests which are hardly being properly interpreted by virtue of incompetence and lack of experience, and the rampant paranoia and defensive personalities that have been imparted to medical health care and other related professionals and personnel...if you think this is not a manifestation of the gross distortion of ‘medical thinking’ that is ravaging through medical communities today, and society, and in turn taking your health down along with it...well, think again and wake up. [I would have said “...wake up before it’s too late”--but it’s already too late for those people who have already died because of these problems. So I guess I’ll just have to change the sentence around another way and say]...well, think again and wake up before it’s too late...for the living!

---It was quite clear to me then, eighteen years ago, as a practicing medical doctor caught in the throes of the impending chaos--even though the public at the time had no idea as to the severity of the problem--that if this pervasion of medical thinking were to continue long enough--as I said and am purposely reemphasizing because of its major significance...it would eventually have no choice but to lead to such a gross distortion and destruction of medical thought that millions of peoples’ lives would be lost...those of the patients, the people...you and your family.

---It is now eighteen years later and although you 'still' might be in the dark--as you were eighteen years ago--as to the extent and horrendous nature of the things that are going on, let me clue you in. The occurrence of these unacceptable (to put it mildly) happenings is now a painful, ludicrous, and hard to believe reality. And all of society is now at fault at all levels, although each for different reasons. I would personally estimate that there are millions of people who have suffered and died because of it...and there will be more, because the problem is getting worse.

---...And contrary to what you might think, as I said, it's not getting worse from malpractice per say...but rather from the fear and misunderstanding of the patients, from the fear and defensiveness of the doctors and other health care professionals, from the fear that has been instilled within a society now in turmoil, and which fear has now translated and spread into the very fabric and structure of our entire economic system (systems of health care 'and otherwise'), at all levels.

---You see, the sad part of all this is not knowing what is going on. After all, if you do not know what is going on, or if you think you know what's going on but you are wrong--which for the most part is what is occurring today--then you cannot even have hope of fixing the problem, and the problem will get worse.

---Ironically, back then, eighteen years ago when I wrote my article, the general public had no idea as to the extent and nature of what was happening. People were just pointing fingers and indiscriminately blaming one another like so many infantile children.
---...So I’d decided to write about it to try to help solve the problem through greater understanding, which accounts in part for why I began publishing "The Medical Health Care Gazette" myself, quite literally single-handedly. I was writer, editor, advertising ad copyrighter, graphics artist, typesetter, printer, magazine maker, folder, stitcher, distributor and publisher. The only thing I didn’t do, or I did do in part, was to get the magazine ads...and as to which acquiring there was actually no real problem.
---The magazine was distributed free of charge to the public, and paid for by a respectable and healthy number of ads. And I'm proud to say, they were gobbled up by the people as fast as I could get them out. Everybody wanted to read them, so much so that I broke a certain advertising barrier. Usually a medically related magazine gets medically related advertisers. But as it turned out, the fact that so many people were interested in reading it helped to spread the word about the magazine, locally to most all businesses, medically related and non-medically related alike.
---...The end result, I had to add what I called a Consumer Advertiser Section (a section of the magazine wherein the ads were intermingled with the articles of course, written by myself and other medical professonals). Eventually, over two-thirds of the advertisers in the magazine were non-medical, ranging from beauty parlors, automotive establishments, jewelers, restaurants, stores of every sort.

---You see, all these advertisers knew was that the magazines were being picked up and read, and that their ads were therefore more likley to be seen. Actually, I’d almost always placed the ads at the top of the pages of the magazine, and the written articles at the bottom, only because I knew when a reader would turn a page their eyes would automatically scan to the top of the next page and would therefore have to look at the ads. I always gave the ads top priority. I knew the articles would be read wherever they were placed.

---The only reason the magazine is not everywhere today, national at least and perhaps even international, was because tragedy struck my family personally, and ironically that tragedy was related to what I’m talking about here, to what was happening to the health care system at the time...the gross misundertandings, its deterioration, the rampant distortion of medical thinking, and so on.

---Back then, eighteen years ago, I realized that hardly anybody knew, let alone completely understood, what was happening to our health care system, and so, naively, I thought I could at least try to do something about it with my magazine. Actually, I wasn’t naive, but it was all I could do, to self publish such a magazine on a shoestring. I even had to get a more than half century old printing press--because ‘old’ was all I could afford, but it did the job. It weighed in at over six thousand pounds, a Chief 29 it was called, and I learned how to run it since I couldn’t afford to hire anyone to do so. Remember, I was the one phasing down my medical practice because I couldn’t do what society was demanding doctors do with their patients. I wasn’t about to prostitute my ideals even if I had less money. And my family suffered because of it.

---But oh boy, that Chief 29...I smile when I think about it, a formidable printing press, so big I had to stand up on a platform just to ink it. And I’d had to rent a warehouse within which to keep it. And it was my baby, all six thousand pounds of it, and I’d actually mastered how, and got good at running it...while always in the back of my mind I remained determined as to how important it was to get these messages out to the public to increase their understanding and to help stop the devastation...just so family members would not ultimately suffer and die.

---But I was fighting a losing battle. I knew it as I was doing it. But the battle is not over yet. I’m still here. And this time--I know it sounds far-fetched...this time I have good reason to believe I have some formidable help. I have our Creator at my side... and I have to say in saying that, I’m by far the furthest thing you can imagine from a religous fanatic. But I know what I know.

---Unfortunately, back then, I felt very much alone. What could one lone doctor do, especially with a locally published magazine with a limited circulation, a magazine the lone doctor was physically printing and making up himself!

---As I said, my motivating force was coming from my awareness that people were dying, and more would be dying unless people knew the truth as to what was going on. Obviously, little me could not hold back the ‘massive tide’ of misunderstanding that would sweep throughout our country and then the world, all of which accounts for the fact that our medical health care system, nowdays, has become totally chaotic and in a shambles and hardly recognizable as a uniformly valid and trustworthy establishment. The great and wonderful advances of modern technology and the wonderful ‘real’ but few, truly dedicated doctors who remain [They're there, take my word for it. I know.] are all but being lost in the tide.

---The pathetic irony of all this, the very people and powers that be, back then eighteen years ago, had no idea as to what was happening, let alone known that it was happening at all...while nowdays people uniformly do know something is grossly wrong with our health care system. But still, they’re like little children pointing fingers and blaming one another with just about nobody really knowing what is really going on, how it all came to this, and where it is going, let alone knowing what to effectively do about it. And I can tell you, it is going no place that is good...no place 'good.'
---...Actually, it is going to a very, very 'bad' place. If you think things are bad today, think again. It will be getting much, much worse. How much worse can it get you say? I assure you...much much worse, unless the problem is understood and corrected.

---Through this web site I hope to create greater understanding. Not take sides. No blaming. No pointing fingers. Just trying to create harmony among all people, so we can all, together, do something about it. For at stake...is all of our lives.

---Because the problem wasn’t taken care of back then, it has gotten worse, sort of like a human body that has become diseased and not been properly treated. The treatment is now different though. It’s got to be, because the problems have mushroomed into more of the same and much more that is different.

---I have done thinking on these matters. Back then the main problem was a distortion of truth as to whether medical decisions, diagnosis, etc were or were not malpractice, whatever that is--and which I will further discuss. But today the problem is worse. What’s happened has happened, and although the malpractice problem still exists and is worse then ever, other problems equally severe and even more devastating have accrued because of it (because of the malpractice problem) and continue to be totally misunderstood by most all phases of society, from the people victims up to the powers that be who could stop the needless suffering with a stroke of a pen, but who don’t know enough to do so, or whatever.

---I will discuss what can be done today to try to correct this societal disease, but I will tell you, I’m not so sure now as I was then, eighteen years ago, that it can be corrected. For one (reason), while back then a massive wave of ignorance and selfishness and narrow-mindedness had begun to destroy medicine as as we’d known it, on the other hand today the disease has spread and changed its form, so that today, as I said in different words, medicine is hardly recognizable in terms of what it should have advanced to and become.

---...But before you can even understand what to do about what is happening, you have to understand the thinking behind what happened eighteen years ago...and of course, the problem really began long before that.

---In summary then of this introduction to the original article, the problem with the health care industry nowadays can be seen as a two-sided problem.

First, for reasons as discussed above, it is imploding inwardly, on itself--destroying itself--and thereby resulting in great and unnecessary loss of life of innocent victims, of you, of a society that doesn't quite well know the extent to which this is happening, even though somehow you, society, knows or feels it is happening, which makes the matter that much the worse, the lack of knowing exactly what’s going on and therefore not knowing what to do about it.
And secondly, a now greater problem is that medicine, rather than advancing into the future, is in many ways regressing. For example, while appearing to be advancing via technological machines and whatnot, the medical thinking of the professionals having to use those machines and interpret their results, is and has regressed. It’s sort of like those futuristic doomseday movies wherein a future atomic holocaust has occurred and the world is left with highly advanced technological machines fighting against and amidst a more primitive appearing population of washed out and aberrant people, within a society of a nightmarish quality. What's happening in medicine, especially to its victims, is nightmarish.

---But to make matters worse, it’s not enough to say that one day, future historians (if they’re around) will look back at these times as the beginning of the ‘dark ages’ of medicine, wherein society regressed.
---...and it’s doing so, regressing, throughout many phases of society, not just medicine (i.e.the destruction of the family unit, deteriorated values of integrity, honesty, rampant immorality, etc).

---Fact is, the advancement of medicine into its clear-cut future, which should have been the incorporation of prevention of disease and redeterminations as to the true nature of aging and so on, and the integration of medicine with all other phases of the ‘lifestyle related’ causes of disease (and aging)...this has not occurred the way it should have occurred.

---...Instead, nowadays it’s a free-for-all when it comes to prevention, wellness, alternative medicine and the like and wherein distortion of true wellness and its prostitution is running rampant. Why, it’s gotten so bad that I remember seeing an announcement in a medical newspaper some time ago that a major medical institution was implementing a program of wellness...most of the modalities of which, pathetically, were absolute nonsense!

---I began realizing then that the problem with advancement into the future just in terms of establishing wellness (besides everything else) as a viable and adjunctive aspect of medical care was hardly understood and being prostituted for reasons of ignorance or financial gain or otherwise.

---Why, with regard to the very medical establishment as to which it (wellness, etc) was supposed to be a valid and viable and valuable part, I couldn’t help but believe that the people running this particular higher and otherwise well respected medical institution, whether they be medical doctors or administrative personnel or whatever, were realizing that the handwriting was on the wall: the public, the people, they wanted 'wellness' and 'prevention.'
---...Only problem though, 'the powers that be' making such decisions at this high level medical complex, as well as other higher institutions of medical learning and etc throughout the country and the world, hadn’t the foggiest idea as to what true wellness and prevention was really about about, such as in terms of interrelations of wellness to what disease really is, to what aging really is, and to what lifestyle factors have been genetically 'programed' into our genetic structure for optimum well-being, and so on.

---And why?...because for decades the prevailing health care industry providors have ignored the vast accumulation of knowledge in this regard (wellness, prevention, aging, associations between disease, aging and lifestyle, etc) that has been discovered and accumulated over decades and centuries, and even over the mellenium.
---...But I, for one, hadn’t been ignoring it and have been studying such information for decades, information going back hundreds and thousands of years. And believe me, it is life-saving and it is life-promoting and has little in the way of side effects.

---So what did these institutions of higher medical learning and treatment and so on do?...they fell back on doing what the public wanted them to do and which has been based for the most part on the previous introduction of ‘wellness’ (a term which has since bcome prostituted) by non-medical persons and every Tom, Dick and Harry who hardly knew what they were doing. But what would you expect?...‘medicine’ and the medical community left all those ‘Tom, Dick and Harrys’ a big opening (so-called ‘wellness’) within the domain of medicine and within which to take up the slack.

---Obviously, when a well-renowned medical complex lowers itself to the introduction into their medical practices of disreputable and unreliable methods of ‘wellness’ and ‘prevention’ and ‘alternative’ and ‘holistic’ medicine just to ‘keep up with the Jones,’ so to speak, for lack of their proper knowledge on these matters...well, if that’s not to be considered the prostitution and distortion of just one phase medicine (the ‘wellness’ phase, notwithstanding the other aspects I have been discussing)...well then, I would guess people don’t know prostitution when they see it!

---The article you are about to read, “Is It A Complication...Or, Is It Malpractice?” was originally published in 1985 in my former health care magazine, "The Medical Health Care Gazette.

---But as I said, things have changed since then, in the past eighteen years, to the point wherein we, our current society, has not yet come to understood nor therefore been able to properly correct the problems as they existed then, nor as they not only continue to exist today, but as they have mushroomed and exploded nowadays into circumstances much worse. Yet, although nowadays the problems have become wider and more diverse, at least 'society' finally knows that something has got to be corrected. At least people finally know things are wrong...the first step toward even beginning to correct it.

---Back then, eighteen years ago, the masses of the people and the powers that be...they had only an inkling of an idea as to the ramifications of how serious things were...and which for the most part went ignored by the masses of the people, sort of like cattle not knowing they are massively being led to the slaughter!
---...And all the while, lone me--having sometimes thought of myself back then as having been a pathetic, helpless creature of a man...I stood in the throes of it all and tried to do something about it, but failed.

---Perhaps I’ll fail again, but at least I’ll be doing my part--more than my part--in creating better understanding between people. The question is, will you? Will you do your part and spread the word of greater understanding for the sake of yourselves and your families?
---...At least this web site is a start. Herein you’ll have sincerity and honesty and integrity to hang onto, and a belief system, and a purpose, and if you understand and believe in it enough, it will change your life and the way you think, and in turn you should be able to change your very own body. Because it will have come from the power of your mind, from your belief in something wonderful, because it can help others.

---Once you, the individual peoples of society, become part of that...the societal problems, the malpractice problems, the distorted medical thinking problems, the diverse and interrelated economic problems...they should simply go away. It’s as simple as that. For it is within the people of society believing in and working together toward that which will help them all, wherein lies the cure.---

---This is perhaps wishful and idealized thinking, but things can change if you understand and are determined to make them change.
